How To Get Pregnant With PCOS

Our Pregnancy Rate with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Patients Is 55%

We recently received a few questions pertaining to IVF treatments for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, or PCOS. Since PCOS is relatively common medical condition, we wanted to share the answers of our fertility doctors.

Question

I have been diagnosed with PCOS. I have done 5 cycles of injectables + IUI, no pregnancy. I have never been pregnant (33 yrs old). I'm seriously looking into IVF with your company and would like to know what my chances are of a successful pregnancy with IVF & my condition. My doctor was pleased with my follies and my lining and all lab work.

Answer

PCOS with IVF can be tricky because with so many follicles they all do not grow appropiately and the egg quality is not always the best. PCOS cases have to be monitored very closely with blood test and ultrasound. Currently our pregnancy rate with PCOS patients is 55%.

In addition, sometimes patients may need to be on Metformin. We will order lab work to see whether the patient has high levels of LH hormones. We would do an IVF with Gonal F and Luveris which is just LH no Menapur, as patients with PCOS cannot be given too much FSH. What they need is maturity of the egg, which requires more LH.
