Breast Augmentation in Mexico

Breast Augmentation with Board Certified Plastic Surgeons in Mexico

Breast augmentation, some times called mammoplasty, is a surgical enhancement procedure to accentuate the size and shape of your breasts. While breast augmentation will make the breasts larger, the surgery will not move the breasts closer together or lift sagging breasts. Breast augmentation is recommended for patients who wish to have a fuller profile, who have lost breast volume due to pregnancy or nursing, or who have undergone breast reconstruction and want to gain a more natural look again.

General Procedure
Breast augmentation involves making a small incision to insert a breast implant into the breast area, while the patient is under general anesthesia. The surgery lasts between one and two hours. In the U.S., this type of surgery is typically performed on an outpatient basis. Our doctors practice very conservative medicine and ask our patients to stay at the hospital for a couple of days after the surgery to ensure a quick and infection-free recovery. Our contracted plastic surgeons operate in state-of-the-art operating suites and use anesthesiologists rather than anesthesiology assistants.

There are several possible locations for the small incision that will be used for inserting the breastBreast Augmentation implant. The best technique will be decided between you and your surgeon during the consultation. One of the techniques called periareolar involves making an incision around the areola (the dark skin surrounding the nipple). Another technique makes an incision in the armpit (transaxillary). The last approach utilizes an incision made in the lower portion of the breast (inframammary). Implant placement beneath the muscle of the chest offers a few advantages over placement beneath the breast tissue only. These include reduced risk of capsular contracture (post-operative tightening around the implant) and less interference with mammogram examinations. Possible disadvantages include need for drainage tubes and elevated pain in the first few days following surgery.

During surgery, the breast tissue is raised to create an open pocket beneath the chest wall muscle or under the breast tissue. Our doctors use FDA-approved silicone implants manufactured by the U.S.-based company called McGhan. In some circumstances, particularly those in which there is breast asymmetry (uneven breast size), an inflatable saline implant may be used to allow the surgeon to adjust the level of inflation to attain breast symmetry and balance.

Recovery Process
Complications following breast augmentation surgery are uncommon and usually minimal. They may include capsular contracture, swelling and pain, infection around the implant, a change in nipple sensation, milk production if you nursed a baby within a year before the procedure, and breakage or leakage of the implant (implant rupture) as a result of injury or the normal compression and movement of your breast. Patients sometimes report minor pain associated with the surgery. This pain can be treated effectively with oral medication.

Even though you are going to be staying at a tropical destination in Mexico, after the surgery you will not be able to swim in the ocean or be in direct sunlight. Our doctors recommend plenty of rest and limited movement in order to speed up the healing process and recovery time. Bandages are applied right after surgery to aid the healing process and to minimize movement of the breasts. Once the bandages are removed, a specialized surgical bra must be worn for several weeks.
